“The success of the Social Change Wave lies in the hard work and dedication shown by the participants in bringing their ideas to light”
TOGETHER IT IS BETTER!
This weekend the 5th Social Change Wave was held, from 23 to 25 June at Foqus, in the Spanish Quarters
By bringing together different groups of participants, speakers and mentors, we presented and discussed ideas and projects brought to the table by social entrepreneurs who have as their ultimate goal the same goal as Dialogue Place, that is, inclusive cooperation between migrants and locals, supporting power innate start-ups.
The event catering was followed by Tobilì (here to find out more), a positive example of a successful start-up.
DAY 1- GET TO KNOW US!
After the coffee and the registration and after we all met and got to know each other, we gathered for the opening session, to encourage the participants in the event and to kick off the conversations that produced business ideas.
The opening session saw the participation of Serena Angioli, councilor for European funds, youth policies and European cooperation and Alessandra Clemente, councilor for youth policies, innovation and creativity of the Municipality of Naples.
Feeling the support of great taxpayers, feeling that this weekend’s work, and what would have resulted from it, was supported by different sectors of the community were not only signs of encouragement but also, and above all, a tangible example of communication and cooperation.
Immediately after, after the introduction by the Pres. Of Project Ahead – Marco Traversi, the juror Valentina Costa, pres. of the non-profit organization Sagapo presented Dialogue Place and its partners and guided us towards the start of Social Change; each participant had 3 min. each to show and explain ideas, after which we moved on to the formation of groups based on similar interests.
DAY 2 – WE DESIGN!
The following day, we all returned to Foqus for a day of exchange of ideas between the groups and for the realization and acquisition of the social projects presented.
From 09:00 to 19:30 the time was divided between:
– group work, where each group confronted its mentors
– inspirational speeches from speakers such as Michele Franzese, Maria Lombardi, Martina Romanello, Luca Palmara and Antonio Martiniello. (Here to read about our mentors)
For the participants these speeches were a precious opportunity to receive advice and help from people who have a great experience in social enterprise and allowing them to take part in conversations about possible future scenarios.
The success of the Social Change Wave lies in the hard work and dedication shown by the participants in bringing their ideas to light, therefore it was necessary an adequate period of time to sustain the dialogue and to have a finished presentation for the last day of event.
DAY 3 – THE WINNER IS …
Following the example of the past few days, the participants met with the mentors to complete their business plan, to be eventually presented to the jury.
After each group presented their finished plan, the 3 most voted were selected to continue their idea of social enterprise, now transformed into a plan, at the conventions in San Francisco, Paris, Barcelona.
The winners were:
+ The Sheralo project wins a 2 week incubation period in San Francisco at TarmacSF
+ The Arginalia project wins a 1 week incubation period in Paris at LeComptoir
+ The RobBin project will participate in a 4 days of social innovation on BoatCamp2017
We hope to see you all grow and go far! In addition, we congratulate everyone for working for a positive social enterprise this weekend and challenge everyone, those who participated or not, to engage in future development and encourage social change!
